    What’s in Store for Players?

    • Player-Centered Training: Tailored to individual and team development.

    • Competitive Opportunities: Test your progress by playing in local tournaments.

    • Supportive Community: Join a team that’s passionate about growth, fun, and soccer.

Magpie Soccer is where players thrive, grow, and achieve their goals. This spring, let’s work together to unlock their potential and take their game to the next level!

    What you can expect

At Magpie Soccer, our top priority is learning and development, not just winning. We create an environment where players focus on growing their skills and understanding the game before focusing on outcomes. Here’s what you can expect:

    • 4 Hours of Training Sessions Per Week (Minimum): Consistent, focused sessions to ensure steady progress and skill-building.

    • Professional Coaching: Led by experienced coaches to ensure expert guidance in every session.

    • Safe and Supportive Environment: A place where players are encouraged to learn, improve, and challenge themselves in a positive atmosphere.

    Development-Focused Approach

We build players around three key pillars:

    1. Fitness:
Commitment to being the fittest team on the field ALWAYS. Focus on low-base cardio with and without the ball, sprint work, and delivering on-demand transitional runs.

    2. Two-Touch Play:
50%+ of every session is exclusively in a two-touch format to improve field awareness, decision-making, number of touches, intent of movement on/off the ball, and teamwork.

    3. Tactical Understanding

Players will learn how to consistently create space behind the opposition’s backline. Key focuses include recognizing backline triggers, defensive shape recovery, and counterattacking with penetrative passing, 1v1s, and finishing.

In addition to individual tactical awareness, players will also develop a deeper understanding of how to play as a cohesive unit. We’ll work on positional roles and responsibilities, emphasizing how each player contributes within different systems of play. Through situational scenarios and game-based reps, players will gain experience with defensive and attacking rotations, how to recover and reorganize as a team, and how to maintain balance and spacing throughout transitions. This ensures players not only think one step ahead individually, but also begin to see and react to the game collectively.

Our Philosophy: Learning First, Winning Later

While winning is always exciting, it's not our main focus—learning is. In our program, we prioritize helping players grow their understanding of the game, develop strong habits, and build confidence both as individuals and as teammates. We believe that when players truly develop, success on the field becomes a natural outcome.

To support that growth, we aim to follow a training model inspired by top British academies, focusing on an 8:1 training-to-game ratio—eight focused training sessions for every one match. This gives players the time and space to practice, make mistakes, and improve without the pressure of constant competition.

Each session, including game days, will have clear goals such as how to recover into a good defensive position, how to receive the ball while facing forward, when and how to press, and how to make smart supporting runs. These technical and tactical focuses are what help players not just play the game—but understand it. And when that understanding clicks, the wins will come.

    ANNUAL SCHEDULE OVERVIEW

Our program runs on a 12-month calendar, but families are only financially committed for 7 months.

    Fundraising Commitment
Fundraising is an essential part of our program, with the goal of covering all tournament costs and eventually ensuring our program is cost-free for all players. Our Fundraising Plan will be released at our first in person meeting, MEETING #1. Here’s how it works:

    1. Tournament Fundraising:

      • Each team participates in 6 tournaments per season (entry fees average $900 per tournament).

      • Total cost per team, per season = $4,500.

      • Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover these tournament expenses entirely.

    2. Future Team Fundraising:

      • After covering the current season’s costs, we’ll focus on fundraising for the next season.

      • The ultimate goal: By year two, no player pays anything out of pocket (*registration fees, monthly fees, tournament fees, uniform fees)  .
